The Frank W. Thomas Residence (1901), Oak Park, Illinois


The Frank Wright Thomas Residence was built in 1901. Also known as “The Harem”, this was the first Prairie style house built in Oak Park. The design follows Wright’s definition of the style: “no basement, no attic, living rooms on the second level and sets of in-line windows. The raised living rooms catch the breezes and give privacy to the occupants.”
